| In search for a postdoc position following our PhD we visited Vancouver in April 2009. We had only heard good stories obout this city, so fortunately we had a weekend to explore the city togther with some friends that live there, before we had our interviews. Vancouver is a beautiful city. Its located in between the mountains and the sea. Nature is all around while at he same time you have he advantages of a big city (many cultural events and places to go out). In addition it's very safe and the general atmosphere is more laid back than on the east coast. We visited the several of the main attractions, like the Stanley park, the Sea-aquarium, Gaztown and the Granville Market. Just outside Vancouver we also paid a visit to Lynn Valley park, which has a nice suspension bridge. We were not surprised to hear that the city is supposed to be one of the most pleasent cities of world to live in. |
