In september 2006 I visited Edinburgh for a conference. Edinburgh has a very rich history and many battles between the English and the Scots have been fought in this city. The medieval Edinburgh castle towering high above the surrounding city is the main attraction. It's a fantastic well preserved castle which should not be missed. Also the city center itself is very attractive, with many small alleys and cobblestone streets with pubs, restaurants and small shops. There are also some fine mueseums for which you don't have to pay an entrance fee. I also visited the zoo and it is highly recommendable, since it has a large collection of endangered birds and mammals. |

In January 2008 together with a couple of friends we visited London to pay a visit a friend, Jeroen, who just moved from Amsterdam to London. Apart from some very enjoyable nights out we did some nice sightseeing around London, which included the usual suspects. Needless to say, everybody thoroughly enjoyed the visit to this great city. Jeroen definately could have chosen a worse place to live in. And we will surely take more advantage of that again some time soon! |
